And so, at the remarkably youthful age of 20, he was appointed main cellist of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, a position he held, even so playing his father's instrument, until final year. Now, even so, he has acquired a Francesco Rugeri cello, on loan from the Royal Academy of Music.
